*too bad my design proposals rarely goes beyond client approval because I tend to be very simplistic.

for me the solution in this case is like this:
make a design your way and another his way...

sometime they combine both

Where I work there is a designer for the "another way".

I don't make lot of design anymore, I have more work developing in AS or PHP, and that takes most of my time... but whenever I have a chance i open the good ol' photoshop and start doing layouts.
